Daddies in AfroGospel Music: Celebrating the Men Shaping the Sound We Love

Gospel music has always needed fathers. Not just men who make great music, but men who build, who invest in others, who show up consistently, and who leave the space better than they found it.

This Father’s Day season, we’re celebrating three men in afrogospel music who are doing exactly that in the studio, on the stage, and at home.

Gaise Baba

Before “No Turning Back II” went viral and before Urgent 2Hours prayer walks were filling neighborhoods across Nigerian cities, Gaise Baba was simply a man committed to his faith, his family, and his craft.

Married to Funto Ibuoye, Gaise Baba is a father of three and that reality quietly informs everything about his ministry. “Want to Grow,” his most recent single, isn’t just a gospel song. It’s a declaration from a man who understands what it means to be responsible spiritually, musically, and at home.

Moses Bliss

Moses Bliss has been making music since 2017 but January 2025 marked the moment he became a father in the most literal sense. He and his wife Marie, a Ghanaian-born London-based lawyer, welcomed their first child, a baby boy.

“This is the doing of the Lord. We are in awe of His mercy,” he wrote alongside the announcement.

What makes Moses Bliss’s story compelling isn’t just the music — it’s the consistency. From “Too Faithful” to “Taking Care” to building Spotlite Nation into a label that is creating space for other artists, he has shown that you can be deeply successful and deeply grounded at the same time.

Limoblaze

Limoblaze has been in the AfroGospel space long enough to have influenced an entirely new wave of artists and he’s still going. His impact on younger gospel creatives is the kind that quietly reshapes a whole generation.

His vision, in his own words, is “to use music as a platform to build systems that help young Christians gain the tools and guidance that empower them to share the gospel and chase their dreams.”

As the first African artist signed to Reach Records, he didn’t just break a ceiling — he held it open. His label OneSkript Music, co-founded with his wife Favour, is actively creating space for younger artists. His sold-out concerts — from the O2 Academy Islington to the O2 Forum Kentish Town have shown that AfroGospel can fill rooms outside Nigeria, inspiring a generation of artists who now believe the same is possible for them.

To every father, whether biological, spiritual, or otherwise, this one is for you. Fatherhood is one of God’s most powerful reflections on earth. And whether you’re a biological father, a spiritual father, or simply a man who has chosen to invest in the lives of others, your impact matters more than you know.

Happy Fathers Day.
