What We Are Listening To This Week

We’re back with another exciting edition of What We’re Listening To This Week.

In case you missed the last one, please check it out here.

This week, our playlist takes us from East Africa to Nigeria, with a quick stop in the United States along the way. Whether you’re looking for something to pray with, something to encourage you, or something to dance to, we know you’ll find something to enjoy on this list.

Here’s what we’re listening to this week:

Ndio – Rehema Simfukwe

We’re starting this week’s playlist in Tanzania with one of East Africa’s beautiful gospel voices, Rehema Simfukwe.

Ndio, which means “Yes” is a song that essentially carries the sentiment “When Jesus says yes, nobody can say no.”

The song carries the beautiful blend of worship and East African musical influences that we love, here at AfroGospel Music, and the beats are so catchy that you’ll find yourself dancing before you know it.

Even if you don’t understand every word, give this song a try. Truly, when God says yes, everything else is already settled, so we don’t have to be afraid.

If you’ve never explored gospel music from East Africa, this is a wonderful place to begin.

No Pressure – K’orale

This song references Isaiah 59:19

When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

In this beautiful mix of pidgin and English, K’orale has delivered another reassuring song we all really need in this season.

The message is really simple, and it reminds believers that our confidence comes from knowing whose we are.

Lead Me On – Chandler Moore

Some songs immediately create an atmosphere of worship, and Lead Me On is one of them.

Chandler Moore delivers a deeply personal prayer, asking God for direction and the grace to keep following Him.

For this one, we recommend sitting and setting aside some time to really listen to and reflect on the lyrics.

Mma Mma – Frank Edwards

Every playlist deserves a throwback, and this week we’re going back to one of the songs that defined an era.

Mma Mma by Frank Edwards remains one of those songs that instantly brings back memories for many gospel music lovers.

Early Frank Edwards songs have this intense passion that still rings true, several years later. We fell in love with it when it first came out in 2008; we loved the reprise even more in 2017, and we’re still in love with it today.

By Your Mercy – Moses Bliss

We’re ending this week’s playlist with By Your Mercy by Moses Bliss.

The song is a beautiful reminder that everything we have is because of God’s grace and mercy. It is reflective and warm, leaving you with a heart full of gratitude and quietly pointing your attention back to God, which feels like the perfect way to end this week’s recommendations.

We’ll be back next week with another edition of What We’re Listening To This Week.

Until then, we’d love to hear from you. What AfroGospel songs have been on repeat lately? Send us your recommendations. We are always looking for great music, and your suggestion might just make it into next week’s playlist!
