The closing months of 2025 have been truly historic for AfroGospel music — and you can always count on us to keep you updated on everything happening in the space. From major milestones to personal moments and powerful gatherings, here’s a quick snapshot of the latest developments shaping the AfroGospel universe.
Gaise Baba Mourns the Loss of His Father
One of the most emotional moments in recent AfroGospel news came when Gaise Baba announced the passing of his father, Prince Ezekiel Gbadebo Ibuoye, on November 22, 2025. He shared that his father “went home to be with the Lord” exactly seven months and seven days after his mother’s passing.

Despite the weight of losing both parents within such a short time, Gaise Baba expressed unwavering faith, noting that his family remains anchored in God, declaring, “We yield to God, and in all things, we give Him thanks.”

‘No Turning Back II’ Becomes Nigeria’s Most-Watched Music Video of 2025
Perhaps the biggest AfroGospel story of 2025 has been the digital rise of Gaise Baba’s No Turning Back II, featuring Pastor Lawrence Oyor.

According to YouTube’s official 2025 Year-in-Review for Nigeria, the song topped the chart as the most-watched Nigerian music video of the year, pulling in over 41 million views in just about six months. It also racked up nearly 400,000 likes and more than 22,000 comments, outperforming several mainstream and secular releases.
At a YouTube press event, Gaise Baba expressed gratitude to his collaborators and listeners, describing the moment simply but powerfully: “Of a truth, we shift the culture.”

No Turning Back Tour & Lagos Homecoming Concert
As No Turning Back II continues to gain momentum online, Gaise Baba has also taken the message on the road. His No Turning Back Tour 2025 has moved through several cities and tertiary institutions across Nigeria, creating live worship moments for young audiences and church communities alike.

The tour is set to wrap up with a special Homecoming Concert in Lagos on December 23, 2025, serving as a fitting close to the year and a powerful lead-in to the Christmas season.
Beyond individual tours, the AfroGospel community also gathered for AfroGospel Night 2, hosted by Pastor Poju Oyemade and The Covenant Place, Iganmu, on December 14, 2025. The night featured powerful ministrations from Spirit of Prophecy, Gaise Baba, Greatman Takit, and other AfroGospel voices, further highlighting how live worship experiences continue to shape the movement.

Beyond his digital success, Gaise Baba also received major industry recognition in 2025. He emerged as the winner of the AfroGospel Artist of the Year (Male) category at the 2025 Kingdom Achievers Awards. The award, which celebrates outstanding contributions to gospel music and creative arts across Nigeria, further affirmed his impact and influence within the AfroGospel space this year.

Sound of Salem Set to Host “The Salem Experience 1.0”
Sound of Salem is also closing out the year with a major worship gathering. They are set to host The Salem Experience 1.0, themed “Reckless Lovers,” on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Detutu Event Center, Ogudu, Lagos, from 3PM. The event is expected to be a high-energy worship experience. So do well to get your dancing shoes on and make sure you don’t overdress for the meeting.
