Every year on the 8th of March, International Women’s Day invites the world to recognise the women whose gifts, sacrifices, and leadership continue to shape our communities. In gospel music, women have played a remarkable role in lifting the sound of worship across generations.
From young voices bringing fresh energy to seasoned ministers whose songs have become part of our church culture, these women reflect a principle that sits at the heart of the gospel. This year’s International Women’s Day theme puts it simply: Give to gain.
Through music, testimony, and ministry, these women have given their gifts to God and to people. In return, their songs continue to bless audiences around the world.
Annatoria
Among the youngest voices making waves is Annatoria. The Zimbabwe born singer gained global attention after winning The Voice UK in 2020 and has continued to build a unique sound that blends gospel, R&B, and Afro influences. Songs like “Stay With Me” and “I Smile” introduced many listeners to her uplifting style.

Annatoria often speaks about how faith shaped her musical journey. Reflecting on her upbringing, she shared that music was deeply embedded in her home.
Ada Ehi
Few voices in modern African gospel are as recognisable as Ada Ehi. Known for powerful scripture centred songs like “Only You Jesus” and “I Overcame,” she has built a ministry that continues to uplift believers across the world.

Ada once described her journey in simple terms. “My life is a story of God’s grace.” Her music continues to reflect that testimony.
JudiKay
Judikay has a voice that connects deeply with worshippers across generations. Songs like “More Than Gold” and “Capable God” have become constants in many churches because of the way they combine heartfelt worship with lyrics that many believers can relate to.

Her voice is powerful and distinct. During praise sessions, JudiKay often carries a visible joy that makes the moment even more powerful.
Nina Shezz
AfroGospel continues to expand into new sounds and creative spaces, and Nina Shezz represents that experimental edge. Her music blends gospel themes with electronic and alternative influences, creating a sound that resonates with younger audiences exploring both faith and creativity.

Artists like Nina Shezz show how wide the AfroGospel sound can be. The genre continues to stretch across styles such as jazz, electronic music, and other contemporary influences.

Her ministry often centres on prayer, surrender, and a deep awareness of God’s presence. Through her music and worship sessions, she continues to encourage believers to pursue a sincere and personal walk with God.
The Women Behind The Scenes.
Gospel music is also strengthened by the many female collaborators who lend their voices to features, background vocals, and songwriting across the genre. These women may not always be in the spotlight, but their contributions shape many of the songs we love.
To celebrate them, we have created a playlist featuring songs by women in Gospel music.
