Growing up, I was deeply American Gospel music. I listened to artists like Don Moen, Ron Kenoly, Women of Faith, and Kirk Franklin. This greatly influenced my music style even up till now. When you think of modern worship music, Don Moen is the name that pops into your head. He’s had an amazing career for almost fifty years, creating some of the most famous worship songs that have become a staple in Christian gatherings all over the world.
Donald James Moen was born on June 29, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He started out with a strong background in music, playing the violin, piano, and trombone. His journey into worship ministry took off at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Moen became a major name in the world of Hosanna Music, which was one of the first labels under Integrity Music. He was invited to be a worship leader and producer, and he went on to produce 11 volumes in the series. Eventually, he became the creative director and president of Integrity Label Group, a role he held for over twenty years.
In 1986, Moen dropped his live worship album, Give Thanks. This album went on to become a huge hit for Hosanna Music, selling over a million copies and getting certified Gold by the RIAA in 1995. Overall, he has more than 25 albums under his belt, with over five million copies sold worldwide.
With over 100 songs written one of his most famous tracks, “God Will Make a Way,” came out in 1989 after he tragically lost a relative of his and has since become a source of hope for many. It’s one of the most well-known worship songs around the globe. Other memorable songs he wrote include “Thank You, Lord,” “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart,” and “I Will Sing.”
Don Moen’s influence goes way beyond just making music. He’s snagged several awards including a Dove Award, and has been nominated for plenty more. He’s led worship at the National Day of Prayer, spoken at big global conferences, and has even been featured on places like Fox News, NPR, and USA Today.
Married to Laura Moen since May 19, 1973, they’ve got five kids and a bunch of grandkids, and they call Nashville, Tennessee home.

Moen sees himself as someone who creates products and events to help people feel God’s presence in fresh and exciting ways. Back in 2017, he released a memoir titled “God Will Make a Way: Discovering His Hope in Your Story,” which gives a glimpse into his heart and the purpose behind what he does in his ministry.
