Yesterday morning at exactly 7:32 a.m., my mum called and said, “Happy New Month!” At first, I wondered why she would call that early, but then it dawned on me — she just wanted to pray for me, like most African mothers love to do.

After the prayers, I told myself, God has great things in store for me this month. So, I opened Boomplay and played a random thanksgiving playlist. And honestly, I did not regret my choice! Here are five songs I think you should add to your own laylist as we journey into this month and beyond.

1. There for Me – Samuel Folabi

I just discovered Samuel Folabi recently, and I absolutely love this song. It’s simple, soulful, and reminds me that God is always there for me. I was especially touched by the lyrics that say we boast in the name of the Lord.

Whatever your goals and desires are this month, even if the enemy rages, remember this — your confidence should be in the Lord Jesus.

2. Champion – Steve Crown

If you ever wonder why you should be thankful to God, remember that He saved you from sin and healed you. Jesus died so we could have victory over darkness. This song reminds me of my reality in Christ — I’ve been saved, and I’m a champion.

The most powerful part of this song is the hook, which transitions beautifully into a high-energy tempo:

I’m a champion
I walk in victory
I walk by faith and not by sight
By Your grace!
I’m a conqueror
I’m supernatural
You have lighted me
And I’ll show the world

3. E Dey Flow – Moses Bliss ft. Neeja, A-Jay Asika, Festizie, S.O.N Music, Chizie

This song might not be new, but it’s such a powerful jam! That line — “When I look around, everything I dey see just dey make me believe say oil dey my head” — is exactly the kind of reminder you need this month.

God’s oil is upon your head. Like David said in Psalm 23, “He anoints my head with oil; my cup runs over.” Even when challenges arise, always remember — oil dey! God’s love for you is constant and unshakable.

4. BURU – Henrisoul ft. Gabriel Eziashi

This song will get you on your feet, especially if you love Igbo gospel music. If God has been good to you, BURU is one song that will make your heart dance in gratitude.

5. Pariwo – Prinx Emmanuel

I love how Prinx Emmanuel tells stories through his songs, and Pariwo is one of those gems. It’s a vibrant song that mixes street vibes and Pidgin English to talk about the mercy and goodness of God.
