Mercy Nnenda Chinwo, professionally and popularly known as Mercy Chinwo, is a Nigerian gospel singer, actress, and songwriter. She was born on the 5th of September, 1991 in Rivers State, southern Nigeria.
On the 13th of August 2022 in Port Harcourt, she got married to Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, resident Pastor of the Water Brook Church. They currently live in Lagos, Nigeria. They had their first child together in the year 2023.
Education:
According to history, Mercy got her first school leaving certificate at the Goodwill International School and her secondary school education at Paradise International School. She is an alumna of the International Business Management Institute (IBMI) where she bagged a degree in Human Resources Management. She started singing at age 6 in her church’s children’s choir.
Career:
Mercy Chinwo gained recognition through her participation in the Nigerian music talent show called “Nigerian Idol”. Back in 2012, she joined the second season of the show, and guess what? She won! How amazing is that? Winning ‘Nigerian Idol’ was like her launching pad, it gave her the perfect start to her amazing gospel music career. Many people believed that the platform really opened up so many doors for her.

She released her first single, “Testimony” in 2015, and “Igwe”. Two years later, she was signed to a gospel record label named EeZee Conceptz led by EeZee Tee. Chinwo’s first single under the record label, titled “Excess Love” was released in the year 2018, and she went ahead to release several successful gospel songs and albums, becoming a prominent figure in the Nigerian gospel music scene.
Since breaking into the gospel scene, she has been featured on a number of gospel music projects by working with the likes of JJ Hairson, Nathaniel Bassey, Chioma Jesus, Banky W, Joe Praize, Samsong, Moses Bliss, Oluwadunsin Oyekan, Judikay, Preye Odede and a host of others.

Mercy Chinwo has received many awards and recognitions, which are:-
- Best Gospel Artiste at the Climax Awards (2018).
- Africa Gospel Awards Festival (Maiden Edition): Winner in the categories of Africa Gospel New Artiste of the Year, Africa Gospel Female Artiste of the Year, and Africa Gospel Song of the Year (2019).
- ABGMA International Psalmist of the Year Award (2019).
- Gospel Artiste of the year at the AFRIMMA Awards (2020).
- Africa Gospel Music of the year, CLIMA Africa Award (2022).
- ABGMA Afrobeat of the Year Award (2022).
Mercy Chinwo’s management contract with EeZee Conceptz expired in November 2022. In 2023, Blessed Uzochikwa, who’s the husband of the gospel singer was seen to be heavily involved in the subsequent production of his wife’s song. He has executive produced songs such as “You Do This One”, “Oke Mmiri”, “Wonder”, and “We Move” for Mercy Chinwo.

It is worthy to note despite the current ruckus between the singer and her former management, Mercy Chinwo co-owns a record label with her husband, called Grace and Truth Nation (GNT), under which the songs mentioned above were released. The management have also signed the popular Christian singer known as Bidemi Olaoba, and also Mera Owili.
The couples also have a nonprofit organization called Mercy Is Blessed Foundation, whose aims are to empower individuals and support communities through various initiatives, including scholarships, community outreach, and technological skills development.
