Here is Our Highlight on Nosa: Who He is and Where He is Now

Can you believe it’s been 12 years since the release of “I Go Always Pray For You”?

It feels like just yesterday when I first heard it. Time really does fly, doesn’t it? The moment that song played, something just clicked for me and it’s one of my all-time favourites. If you’re a fan of contemporary gospel music, then you’ve probably heard of Nosa. Born Nosa Omoregie on February 26, 1981, in Benin City, Edo State. He grew up in an environment really rich with music. Growing up in a Christian home, he was exposed to music early, singing in church and developing a passion for worship.

His influences are pretty impressive too. He drew inspiration from gospel legends like Fred Hammond, Kim Burrell and R&B powerhouses like Boyz II Men. Plus, he has this wonderful twist from Afro-Highlife that comes from artists like Sonny Okosun and Onyeka Onwenu.

Nosa’s story in music is pretty interesting. He had a bunch of career dreams, like being an engineer, a military guy, or a footballer, before he finally found his groove as a music producer and singer. He studied engineering at the University of Benin.

He broke into the mainstream in 2012 when he signed with Chocolate City, which was one of the biggest record labels in Nigeria at the time. His debut single, “Always Pray for You,” was a hit. It wasn’t just a catchy tune; it had some real emotional depth, bringing hope and a comforting reminder of God’s love. People connected with it deeply, and it got a ton of airplay. He landed a few cool endorsements, like a partnership with Nokia in May 2014 for the song ‘Love Calling’ and a deal with Unilever that same month.

His debut album, “Open Doors,” came out back in 2014. Right off the bat, it showed everyone that he wasn’t just a flash in the pan. I mean, he really nailed it with tracks like “Why You Love Me” and “Always on My Mind” . And to top it all off, he teamed up with rap legend M.I on the remix of the ‘Always on My Mind’ song.

Over the years, Nosa has collaborated with major artists like 121SELAH, Mario Ese, Noble G, Ada Ehi, Folabi Nuel, and Henrisoul, among others. In 2020, he took things up a notch by launching his own record label, Salt Music, right on his birthday—pretty epic, right? With Salt Music, he’s not just continuing to create music, but he’s also set to mentor and promote fresh talent that’s all about gospel and innovation.

Additionally, he earned recognition at the YadaMag Readers’ Choice Awards and the Mega Awards, where his song “Always Pray For You” was awarded Song of the Year.
