The first time I stumbled on Toyosi’s song was on one of my contact lists; the person attends the same church as Toyosi. A couple of weeks later, I searched for her online, and I followed her instantly. However, I have often seen her song video, ‘Yahweh is Inside me,’ as far back as 2019-2020. It was not until I started writing about her that I realized she was the young lady drumming to the song in the video.  Here are some things I think about Toyosi and her songs. 

Toyosi loves God

One of the things I love about this generation of Christians is that they love the Lord and are not ashamed to talk about their love for God. They are Gen Zs, yet they are so big on doing things for the kingdom of God. A lot of times Toyosi posts about her church, her Pastor and everyone who has been a form of blessing to her in her local church. Isn’t that inspiring? It is beautiful to see young and vibrant people burning for God and not ashamed to tell the world about Jesus. 

Toyosi Dey Sing Fire 

I need to scream this one at the top of my voice. Gosh! Have you listened to her songs before? It is soulful. Every of her songs has beautiful lyrics and I wonder what inspires this girl to sing this way. 

I remember when she sang “Turnioniown”, the word “Turnioniown” has always been used for love affairs, but this song has a different meaning for the word. 

Let’s talk about the lyrics of the song:

‘When the world is turnioniown oo/ I won’t let go’

The Bible has always told us that the world is against us. In fact, the world does not want us to serve God. There is so much chaos happening around us today, and we must always remember that God still cares for us. When it seems extremely difficult to hold on to God, we must remind ourselves that Jesus went through tough things to die for us. Does paying him with evil by turning our backs on him then make any sense?

Another song I love alot is ‘I Am Okay’

Let’s ask ourselves some truthful questions: Are you okay with God’s will for you? Do you still consider God your only option, or do you think there are other options to try out? Toyosi’s song is a beautiful song to put us in check. This song has a rock feel, and the infusion of the guitar with her sweet melodious voice makes it breathtaking. 

Recently she sang ‘Baba Abeg’

When you hear the title of this song, you know what it is about. Like she said, it is a prayer song we should sing as often as possible. In the meantime, we do not have any personal information about Toyosi Oseni, but we hope to have an interview with her soon.
