Have you seen the recent An EndlessOcean video ‘Love Practioner’, if you have you certainly will like to meet the vixen in the video. In today’s story, we are shedding the spotlight on her and all you need to know about her.
Ibquake, also known as Ibukun Ajagbe, discovered her love for spoken word poetry in 2013-2014 during a class at House on the Rock church in Lagos, Nigeria. Her passion for the art form has driven her personal growth and success. However, Ibquake’s journey has not been without its challenges.
Born on August 31, 2000, Ibquake grew up without a father figure, an experience she has described as both difficult and empowering. This resilience is evident in her spoken word pieces, which often explore themes of identity and human potential.
If you are a huge fan of spoken words, you will likely have stumbled on some of her videos on her social media feed. Recently, she shared one of her videos dedicated to sickle cell warriors and I’m just amazed at how these artists bring words together. Beyond poetry, she is an inspiration and a good Christian creative creating a niche for herself in today’s world.
Her talent for spoken word poetry is truly remarkable. Ibquake, the only spoken word poet on the second season of the De9jaSpirit Talent Hunt (DTH), left the judges mesmerized with her energetic and captivating performances. They described her work as enjoyable, thought-provoking, and certain to leave a lasting impression. Ibquake’s dedication to her craft shines through as she has been honing her skills for about eight years, a fact that impressed the DTH judges. Not only did her dedication earn her a spot on the show, but it also led to her becoming a coveted Guinness Nigeria ambassador.
In her latest endeavor, Ibquake has joined the esteemed company of other gifted Nigerians such as BBNaija’s Nnegi Hampson, singer Fireboy DML, and actress Beverly Naya. Her partnership with Guinness Nigeria exemplifies just one of the many successful collaborations that highlight Ibquake’s growing impact.
Moreover, her exceptional talent has afforded her the opportunity to engage with some of Nigeria’s most esteemed figures. These include President Muhammadu Buhari, Former President of Nigeria, Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, Ecobank Chairman Bola Adesola, and even the Global Head of Guinness, Mark Sandys.
Ibquake’s remarkable success is not confined to prestigious recognitions and influential gatherings. She has forged partnerships with a range of prominent brands, including Television Continental, Stanbic IBTC, Access Bank, Ecobank Nigeria, and The Tribe Lagos. These collaborations reflect the profound impact Ibquake is exerting in the creative industry.
So, how does this imaginative talent conjure such influential and relatable work? Ibquake derives inspiration from the myriad of experiences that envelop her. She upholds a disciplined writing routine to ensure a steady stream of creativity, even when inspiration appears to be scarce.
The themes explored in Ibquake’s performances range from self-discovery and the potential within each of us to social issues. Her ability to weave these themes with wordplay and pop culture references creates a unique connection with her audience, making her work not only thought-provoking but also deeply relatable.
If you’re looking for a spoken word artist who is energetic, insightful and speaks to the realities of our world, then Ibquake is a must-watch. The good news is that she will be at The Omo Baba Experience later this month.
