Dekunle Fuji, born Adekunle Oloyede Michael Olalekan, made a significant impact on the Nigerian music scene back in 2006. Merging the Fuji and gospel genres, he found his musical identity and gained prominence through his association with Obi Asika’s Storm Records Entertainment. His journey as a Christian artist began at The Fountain of Life Church, where he honed his skills under the guidance of Pastors Bimbo and Taiwo Odukoya. Over the years, he remained dedicated to creating inspiring Christian music. Dekunle Fuji burst into stardom in 2007 with the release of “Mo Like Jesu Gan.” The song became incredibly popular both in Churches and Clubs.

Leveraging on the triumph of his single’s success, he released his debut album, “No Problem (No Lele),” in 2008 and this received acclaim similar to his hit single.  The album displayed his versatility and creativity, and this solidified his status as a multi-talented artist. He also made collaborations with noteworthy artists such as Midnight Crew, Proverbs, Cobhams, and Ikechukwu.

In 2011, the singer embarked on a journey to the United States for a performance. Upon arriving, Dekunle Fuji found himself contemplating the idea of making the States his permanent home. His story took an intriguing turn when he chose to settle down in Maryland USA and it was reported that he had pursued and completed a nursing course in the years that followed, marking a significant chapter in his life’s journey. He however stayed connected to the Nigerian entertainment scene by attending events and nurturing relationships with fellow artists like Jumbo, Dara, and Tim Godfrey.

Following a break from the Gospel music scene, the artist behind “Mo Like Jesu Gan” has re-emerged with a steady stream of new releases in recent times. “Jesus Dance,” Dekunle Fuji’s latest release, seamlessly follows the trajectory set by “Carry Go,” which debuted in September 2020. Dekunle demonstrates his unwavering commitment by delivering new content, ensuring his presence remains vibrant in the minds of his audience, reminiscent of the era when his single “Mo Like Jesu Gan” achieved widespread acclaim. Moreover, Dekunle Fuji teased snippets of upcoming collaborations with ID Cabasa on social media.

His latest song, “Jesus Dance,” is a heartfelt praise song featuring Abbey Cheche and Emmanuel Patrick, produced by the prolific Samklef. This song honours God’s faithfulness and mercy and is available for download on various online platforms, showcasing Dekunle Fuji’s signature expression.
